MITCH MALLOY - Malloy 88 +1 (2013)

MITCH MALLOY - Malloy 88 +1 (2013) MP3 DOWNLOAD

MITCH MALLOY officially debuted as solo artist with his stunning self-titled album on a major label in 1992. But there was another story before, far from an overnight success.
Mitch actually put together a band in 1986, and they had all worked hard at trying to snare that elusive record deal, without luck.
These original recordings entitled "Malloy 88" surfaced some years ago thanks to an European label, but now Mitch is re-releasing the album on his own label, plus a new song.

Mitch talks about these old days: "We had a band with friends of all life. We were very close, like brothers in a way, and to this day I still miss them a great record deal – some of the best people I’ve ever known. Talented too, and the women loved us!
We used to practice in bassist Tim Wheeler’s basement. Tim and I have been buds since we were 5 years old and started playing music together at the age of 12 – he’s still my best friend."
However, despite hooking major interest, it seemed all label eyes were really only on the exceptionally good-looking and talented frontman, owner of a
powerful yet melodic voice and penchant for writing ridiculously catchy melodic rock anthems.

Mitch explains: "RCA wanted a different sound, and for me to just be ‘Mitch Malloy’ for marketing reasons. The producer the label hired wanted different guys to play on the record, and over the last few months the label had been putting me with outside writers and that was splitting up the band vibe as well.
I’m sorry I did it on one hand, as it was a fun band and I loved the guys like brothers, but then on the other hand, the Mitch Malloy record that people seem to love so much would never have happened if I hadn’t let them break up the band.
It’s bitter sweet, isn’t it?"

Although the original "Malloy" tapes got lost along the way, there were still the original mixes left and I must say that the result on this album is fabulous. This is truly 1988!
A couple of tracks, such as the fantastic layered AOR track "Forever" plenty of classic harmony vocals overload and the smashing hot-on-the-wheels rocker "Problem Child" were also part of his debut solo album in a slightly or completely different version.
"Malloy 88" is more visceral than Mitch's first solo CD, with a sound that is the definition of pure Melodic Rock from the second half of the eighties.
Just check the killer hook laden melodic hard rock opener "On My Way", the melodies on "Rodeo Girl" and "She's Young, She's Wild" or the awesome ballad "Still In Love".
The vocal/acoustic guitar intro in "Angeline" builds the song into almost epic proportions, while this original take of "Problem Child" signs the album off in a flurry of guitars, a nice touch of Van Halen-styled rock.
New track 2013 "What A Day" is more in the present Mitch vibe with a strong melodic foundation and a sweet chorus including some strings.

"Malloy 88" is obviously a recording very much of the time delivering twelve very catchy melodic (hard) rock tunes full of magic.
Despite the album wasn't released as the label rejected Malloy 'as a band', these are not demos. Production is very good with a crisp sound and mix.
Actually I prefer this to the debut (which is great by the way) because "Malloy 88" is crafted from the heart and bleeds Melodic Rock.
Perfect Melodic Rock I'd say.

Just like buses, you wait years for a hard rocking MITCH MALLOY album, then you get two in quick succession.
After 2011’s well received ‘Mitch Malloy II’ opus, Mitch has gone back into the studio and totally re-recorded his 2001’s ‘Shine’, this time around adding keyboards and three completely new songs.
To avoid confusion with the original release, this brand new album is going under the title of "Shine On".

Malloy says: "I was never happy with the original album, recorded with low budget and with pressures by the label for a more 'plain' style."
Then, now Malloy decided to re-record the songs, discard a few, and add 3 completely new tracks.
"So it started to become this whole different CD and that is why it's got a new name.
It's not an old album at all, it's a new album, with a brand new cover and art work".

"Shine On" is real Mitch Malloy: Melodic Rock with pulsating guitars, keyboard fills and his unmistakable vocals.
Release date is still uncertain.
The CD was on sale exclusively past weekend at Firefest Festival during Mitch Malloy's show.

Mitch Malloy will be releasing "Mitch Malloy II" this month, his highly anticipated follow-up album to the RCA Records 1992s smashing debut 'Mitch Malloy', which scored three Top 20 hits.
Mitch says: "For years my core fans have asked me to give them another album full of Melodic Rock and I'm proud to say that Mitch Malloy II is just that.
For me, this is my real second album, the true follow-up to my major label debut, the record that I've wanted to make for a long time."

These days, Mitch is living the dream, creating the music he was born to make.
Last February, Malloy sequestered himself with the sole mission to take his self titled debut to the next level. He reached out to his peers and the momentum began to mount.
A dream-team of musical guests appear on "II", as Phil Collen (Def Leppard) who also co-wrote the song he plays on, "As Long As I'm With You". This track, a beautiful melodic ballad, has a deep and rounded classy sound.
"Falling To Pieces" is pure melodic rock bliss, from the verses to the trademark Malloy chorus. Same with the pumpin' and catchy "I'll Love You Still".

Mitch brought on Keith Scott (Bryan Adams) to co-write "Love Song", an extremely melodic track with resemblances of his nineties major debut, even to his '88' album.
The renowned Randy Goodrum joins on "Take It All", a soft tune with a classic rock sound, including organ and vintage guitars. This is one of the album's best tracks.
Other stellar guests includes guitarists Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem), Keith Howland (Chicago, Rick Springfield), and for a flashback to the self-titled album, Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper) appears on bass. Maestro C.J. Vanston (King of Hearts, Richard Marx) plays keys and co-wrote as well.
And for a vocal treat, Jeff Scott Soto, Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger) and AOR legend Brett Walker offered their voices to the choir on the rockin' "I'm The One", the first single.

"Mitch Malloy II" shows this gifted vocalist truly returning to his most melodious moments.
All the songs on this new recording have a real '80s / early '90s vibe, both in sound and songwriting. The harmonies, melodic guitars, keyboards - and essentially - his unmistakable (intact) voice, are all there.
Mitch teamed up with long-time friend and musical accomplice Victor Broden to co-produce.
The album will be available on physical CD for the first time during his highly anticipated return to Firefest Festival in Nottingham, England, on October 23, 2011, and on popular digital stores.
"Mitch Malloy II" is pure melodic rock at its best. Pure, classy Mitch Malloy.
Recommended.

After a 20 year hiatus, international recording artist and actress Fiona is back in action with a new CD, 'Unbroken', produced by James Christian of the famed House Of Lords.
'Unbroken' contains mostly all new songs written by Fiona, James Christian, Tommy Denander, Holly Knight, and Marc Tanner.
Fans will embrace Unbroken’s intense melodic rock sound which is driven by guitarist/songwriter Tommy Denander and topped off with performances from original Fiona band member, Bobby Messano.
The advanced single “Loved Along The Way” hearkens back to her earlier albums with an irresistible melody and chorus.

After the release of their anniversary album "Branded" which early this year has charted in Germany, Bavaria’s finest rockers Bonfire are surprising their fans now with a second birthday party and a special present.
On the anniversary concerts all over Europe, the band played entirely their classic album 'Fireworks'. All these shows have been recorded, and will be released as "Fireworks - Still Alive".
This new CD offers a couple of bonus tracks including the song “I’m On My Way” – a touching tribute on the late Steve Lee, singer of Gotthard, and live recordings of the hits "You Make Me Feel", "Sword And Stone", "Just Follow The Rainbow" plus a different single version of “Let It Grow” from their current CD 'Branded'.

Swedish quartet Hardcore Superstar is celebrating ten years of awesome music by releasing a 'Best Of' compilation.

The first single “Georgia” (with a different mix) was released on the 12th Sept. It's a beautifully orchestrated melodic song.

Swedish Westcoast / AOR delicious band State Cows released a wonderful debut album last year in the best Airplay, Pages, Maxus tradition.
Do you miss 1983? In that case, their brand new single "Hard Goodbye" is a wonderful trip to these melodious years. Awesome tune.

Renato Abella is a musician/composer based in New York. He will be releasing an album titled “Beauteous Maximus” in December 2011.
The first single, "I Miss You" features Grammy award winning vocalist Dave Bickler, former lead singer of the band Survivor (Eye of the Tiger era) and lead guitar by Brad Gillis of the band Night Ranger.
Very good song that builds up to a wall of sound.

Mitch Malloy is currently hard at work on his new solo album, which will be on sale in time for Firefest and sees Mitch hoping to outdo his glorious debut in the melodic rock stakes. Having already written songs with Danger Danger’s Bruno Ravel and Harem Scarem’s Pete Lesperence, Mitch is having a blast writing for this new album.
"I think this CD will be more 80s than my first one" says Mitch, "I'm thinking of calling it 'Malloy 2011' or 'Mitch Malloy II' because I feel right now that it truly is the follow up to the first album, although you will hear some new 'from me' things that I haven't done."

SOUTH OF EDEN (Mitch Malloy) - ST (2010)

SOUTH OF EDEN Mitch Malloy

Mitch Malloy and Casey Thompson both made their own separate ways to Nashville, TN, a common destination for so many talented small town kids looking to chase a musical dream.
What is less common is witnessing how their simple meeting at a Nashville club turned out to be a perfect fit, and how the spontaneous combustion from two perfectly matched talents deciding to share their dream resulted in the formation of Nashville's hottest new indie duo, SOUTH OF EDEN.

Mitch released two albums on a major label and scored three Top-20 hits.
Malloy was tempted by the possibility of fronting the third incarnation of legendary group Van Halen and went so far as to accept an invitation from Eddie Van Halen to record a series of demos with the band – who could pass up that opportunity?
However, Nashville producers offered him to make it real his bigger dream : writing, performing and producing americana music.
Mitch wrote songs with and for Dennis Morgan, Desmond Child, Mike Reid, David Rosenthal to name a few.

Casey Thompson also had to pull up the small town roots of Marion, Ohio, to chase her dream of making it as a performing artist.
She entered a reality contest sponsored by the NBC “Today” show entitled, “Today’s Next Superstar” and found herself handpicked by NBC producers and Warner Brothers Music as one of only seven contestants to compete for the title of America’s next singing sensation.
Casey placed third in the competition, but still found herself with national press exposure and the chance to work with talents like musical director Jim Brickman and Grammy award-winning producer Guy Roche.

Today, Mitch Malloy and Casey Thompson are chasing their dream together as SOUTH OF EDEN.
And from the overwhelming reactions they are getting from both fans and the industry, it’s already a dream come true.
Their live performances introduce you to a vocal blend that is difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.

A really cool album, refreshing, Country-Rock-Americana tingled yes, but extremely melodic.
And has Mitch Malloy singing, writing, mixing, producing... anything with Malloy's talent involved sounds pretty damn fine... quality guaranteed.
Indie recording, only available via iTunes.
