BANGALORE CHOIR - Metaphor (2012)

VANGOUGH - Kingdom Of Ruin (2011)
thanks to Snakeyes for the review

*

One more time BANGALORE CHOIR, a band that sealed the '90s with its rockin’ songs comes to strike with the album “Metaphor”, to be on the streets at 27th April 2012.
David Reece and his company are here with their 3rd studio album, more matured than ever to deliver the goodies of Melodic Hard Rock straight to you.

Bangalore Choir is getting better and better with each new CD.
“Metaphor” is a devastating album featuring catchy hard (melodic) rockin’ tunes and unbelievable performances. It’s a hailstorm of hot riffs and vocals for award, the whole album bursts from uplifting notes and tracks that will definitely surprise you!
The opening track is called “All The Damage Done” and it just gives you the taste of a dynamic song with skilful guitars, boosting mood, ready to shake you the right way.
“Trojan Horse” coming up next and trust me this track will conquer you. This music battle rises on a melodic 'battlefield' for your ears only. Its rhythm is surprising, and the lyrics fit perfectly to the feeling that these notes bring to you.
A definitive highlight is the kick ass “Silhouettes Of The Shade”, including a terrific chorus and it’s the 'hard' taste leaving upon your speakers that makes you play your air guitar and sway to its unstoppable rhythm.
“Metaphor” jams upon the frets of the guitar bringing to you a sweet squeal, a different track, a unique music situation.

Listening to this album needs only passion for neat music, these eleven tracks will show you the way and escort you to the nest of Melodic Hard Rock.
“Metaphor” is an album really well produced with a concept that is flawless from the mix and mastering to the staff that contains. The tracks one by one are more than enough attributed with high vocal and instrumental standards.
The songs I commented before are just a small sample to what you are going to listen inside this album but trust me that the rest of them are Kick Ass as well.
In my opinion, “Metaphor” is the best album of Bangalore Choir's career so far.
So turn up the volume, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a rockin’ satisfaction that will echo in your ears for a long time!
Highly Recommended.

REECE KRONLUND - Solid (2011)

REECE KRONLUND Solid (2011)

David Reece (Accept, Bangalore Choir) and Martin Kronlund (Dogface, Gypsy Rose) have met the first time in 2007.
Reece was asked to join the Martin's band Gypsy Rose as the new front singer and in June 2008 the album 'Another World' was released.
Their special friendship and musical chemistry continues till this day.
In November 2010 David Reece and Martin Kronlund decided to fulfill their dream about a project under their own moniker which was planed since. "Solid" was recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by Martin Kronlund and Reece at Kronlund's 'JM Studio' Sweden.

"Solid", as the title already says, is a clean, strong piece of very powerful Melodic Hard Rock.
Martin Kronlund played most of the guitars which compliment David Reece's voice perfectly. David also reached out to lyricist Jon Wilde to share ideas and the end result is deep meaningful story lines.
The record includes a high toned companionship of musician guests playing and also co-writing songs on the album.

"My Angel Wears White" opens with great quality this album full of melodies. This fast paced european melodic rocker has a killer chorus and an excellent guitar work by swedish guru Tommy Denander together with Kronlund's hot riffing.
"Samurai" is the first single off 'Solid', and it's another winner. Commercial and catchy, this track has a pumping rhythm and a very nice keyboard line by guest keyboardist Rikard Quist (Gypsy Rose).
"Could This Be Madness" is a beautifully crafted semi-ballad with a bluesy touch, a collaboration with guitarist Brynn Arens. Great tune.
"Animals And Cannibals" is the first track co-written with German guitarist Christian Tolle, and his influence is notable. This track is a teutonic hardrocker ala Bonfire with Reece doing his best.

I was surprised with "I Remember You", another Tolle's contribution. This track is an anthemic midtempo with tons of emotion and harmonies. A kind of tune that you won't expect from a vocalist as David Reece. And he did a great job! A highlight on this album.
The hard rocking roller coaster ride returns with "Paint The Mirror Black". This song has a devastating riff fueled by a potent rhythm section. Powerful chorus too and monster guitar solo. Terrific track.
"I Would" is some kind of ballad in the best Bangalore Choir tradition. Reece shines here. What a great vocalist he is.
David's long time friend guitarist Andy Susemihl (ex-Sinner) contributes on "Edge Of Heaven". A cool track, but the chorus isn't consistent as on the previous cuts.
"Magic Puddin´" is an old style rocker with razor guitars and a live vibe, sounding very german in the chorus part. Co-written by Christian Tolle.
"The Dead Shall Walk The Earth" closes the album in a thrilling way. Good fast paced hard rocker with pounding drums and tight vocals.

"Solid" is indeed a very solid, powerful melodic hard rock CD, with very good songwriting and production.
All sounds perfectly assembled, as a real band. David Reece is in top form and sings his heart out, while Kronlund confirms that he is one of the best guitarists / arranger / producer nowadays.
REECE-KRONLUND had delivered a very classy album in the best european tradition.
Really Good.

BANGALORE CHOIR - On Target [remastered] (2010)

BANGALORE CHOIR - On Target remastered
Includes bonus video

What a great time for melodic hard music 1992 was... Danger Danger had just released their best work in 'Screw It!', Kiss returns from the ashes with the good 'Revenge', House Of Lords with maybe their best disc 'Demons Down', blasting new albums from Unruly Child, Fair Warning, Robin Beck... and the release of this underrated melodious hard rocker by BANGALORE CHOIR.

Unfortunately, "On Target" was released in 1992, at the dawn of the grunge movement – during a time where hard rock acts would soon be swept on the back burner.
The band featured the amazing frontman David Reece, his voice is a blend of late '80s David Coverdale with Jeff Scott Soto, the great ex-Razormaid axeman Curt Mitchell and the tight rhythm section by Dan Greenberg and Derek Thomas whom actually recorded the album, although credited as 'additional musicians'.
Production duties were shared by noted studio gurus Max Norman and James "Jimbo" Barton.

"Angel In Black" will grab your attention instantly. This Autograph unreleased track penned by Steve Plunkett was enhanced with the band's uplifting rhythm, and somehow turned out to be surprisingly awesome.
"Loaded Gun" is the band's MTV-hit track, a great melodic bliss commercial midtempo ala Damn Yankees with a late 80's Whitesnake vibe, co-written with another expertise in this matter; Ricky Phillips (Bad English).
"If The Good Die Young" is really a wonderful power ballad, one of their strongest tracks full of emotion.
"Doin' The Dance" (written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova) is a nice moody rocker.
The raucous "All Or Nothin' " sounds exactly like a Whitesnakes' Slip Of The Tongue tune, with a sick guitar tone.
"Slippin' Away" is one of their best tracks sounding like King Kobra featuring great hooks and rhythm.
The last track, "Just One Night", is also an underrated gem with unbelievably majestic chorus.

BANGALORE CHOIR's debut is a sanctuary for melodic ears, a killer collection of catchy commercial hard rock that would have made them legends in the Los Angeles music scene and beyond.
All songs had hit potential written all over them and should have been played over rock radio endlessly.

This album was criminally overlooked at his time, if "On Target" is still missing in your collection, then make sure you finally get it now.
If you already have the original, then you should consider buying this reissue as well.
Now comes complete with the promo video of 'Loaded Gun' (which only was aired 2 weeks on MTV), new artwork and superb sound quality, perfectly remastered by the genius Martin Kronlund.
This disc should be on your top-priority buy list if you haven't have it yet.

BANGALORE CHOIR - Cadence (2010)

It has been 18 years since BANGALORE CHOIR's only release "On Target" in 1992, unfortunately, at the dawn of the grunge movement during a time where melodic / hard rock acts would soon be swept on the back burner in favor of musical faire such as Nirvana, Mudhoney, etc.
On Target was the perfect collection of catchy rock that would have made them legends in the Los Angeles music scene and beyond.
The band featured an amazing front man named David Reece, who was once the lead vocalist for Accept (on Eat The Heat).
Bangalore Choir’s songs had hit potential written all over them and should have been played all over rock radio.

Reece would return in 2007 with various new bands (GYPSY ROSE) and an idea to release the next big R'N'R edition to the Bangalore Choir saga.
And in 2010, they are back on target and ready to roll with a brand spankin’ new album entitled "Cadence".
The new record continues with the blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and big hooky choruses of the debut.

"Power Trippin" presents a punchy riff, where Reece combines with the guitars a massive slab of smooth, yet abrasive melodic hard rock tune.
"Living Your Dreams Everyday" shows that Bangalore Choir are just as capable at bringing a looser, rough and ready vibe without losing any of their infectious melody.
"Heart Attack" grooves into tons of singalong fun and huge chorus vocals.
"Survival of the Fittest" is a kickass powerful song, a dark and heavy reflection of our times.
"Living Your Dreams" is a super cool ballad that could easily make modern radio and remains faithful to the classic Bangalore sound.

The likes of "Martyr" takes us on a more restrained journey that relies on a joyous chorus, however it is the double punch of "Sweet Temptation" and "Spirits Too They Bleed" that really hit home.
The former has the most insistent sing along chorus on the album, but still retains a depth that songs this memorable seldom have the right to, while the latter's slow building spiral riff locks into an infectious groove that just refuses to let go.

"Cadence" features stellar guitar guests and co-writers: Christian Tolle (solo on "High On The Clouds"), Martin Kronlund (Overland, Gypsy Rose, Salute) and mastermid Tommy Denander.
As all the best albums tend to, Cadence reveals its true strength over numerous listens and what, at first appeared to be a solid set of songs, slowly grows into one of the best melodic hard rock releases of the year.
